Forest Therapy

“The Forest is the therapist, and the Guide open the door”

– Amos Clifford

Forest Therapy is a relational practice that brings people into deeper intimacy with natural places and emphasis on cultivating a relationship with the earth.

The practice originated from the Japanese tradition of “Shinrin-Yoku” or Forest Bathing. “Shinrin” in Japanese means forest, and “yoku” means bath. So shinrin-yoku means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses.

Over the years, studies have shown that forest therapy/ forest bathing has tangible benefits on physical, emotional and mental health.

Land and Water Based Experiences

In a facilitated Forest Therapy session, there is a clearly defined sequence of guided invitations that provides structure to the experience, while embracing the many opportunities for creativity and discovery offered by the forest.

Being a Paddle Sports Coach and a certified Forest Therapy Guide, I have the unique opportunity to blend and host the experience on land and on water. From a guided walk in the garden, a trail into the forest, kayak based at reservoir or on stand-up paddle board at the sea.

The journey and place may be curated accordingly to various age group and individual abilities.
